Volumes of Imagination

2006

Four cubes, each made from a different material (plaster, metal, concrete and felt), with a hole at the top and front, and with a different sized interior cube of air, from 3,000cm3to 60,000cm3. When the viewer looks in to try to imagine what might be inside a volume of imagination, their own imagination enters the cube, mixing with and pushing out the imagination of others to disperse into the atmosphere. The cubes momentarily captures something intangible and invisible.

60,000cm3of imagination was exhibited in all or nothing, a solo exhibition at The North Wall Gallery, Oxford in 2007. 60,000cm3of imagination, and 10,000cm3of imagination were both exhibited in the Turrill Sculpture Garden, Oxford in 2006.
