The length of each track, around as well as up, Madmarston Hill has been measured according to the number of my paces, and a sample of its surface collected. Air, rainwater and soil from the hill have also been collected. What at first glance looks scientific and ordered is in reality personal and arbitrary, yet systematic. The work considers how we classify, record and display objects, and how this reveals their social, environmental and political contexts.

This walk also featured in an earlier work, 11 Tracks.
